           Congratulations

             ‘ Chig ’

In 1990 a number of classic car owners expressed a desire for a car club

Where other likeminded owners could meet on a regular bases.

During the formation process it was quickly realised that funds would be needed to purchase the HCRS number plates from the RTA at a cost of

$3,000.00. This caused great disappointment as funds were in very short supply.

Harold 'Chig' Thynne offered to sell one of his treasured cars for

$3,000.00 to finance the number plates.

The formative committee accepted 'Chig's generosity and was appreciated by all and this was the beginning of the Goulburn Historic & Classic Car Club.

Over the years membership has grown from just a handful of members to over 60 today with great camaraderie between members.

'Chig' also made his workshop available for the annual inspection day for vehicles on HCRS plates from 1990 to 2013.

He continues to support the club to the present day and was awarded a

Life Membership as a mark of gratitude for his unstinting support, foresight to recognise the need for a car club which caters for classic cars and their owners. Without his efforts we may not have a club and would be more the poorer.

On Sunday 7th at the annual inspection day Barry Burrows presented

'Chig' with a plaque recognising his support for the club.

On Behalf of all members past and present we give you a huge Thank You and wish you great health and happiness.
